2D Anime Projects
An opportunity for Animation students to make 2D Hand drawn Anime projects after studying the exhibit, The Samurai Re-Imagined: From Ukiyo-e to Anime. Students will be exposed to historic traditional arts of Japan, which are the classical roots of contemporary Anime. From this influence, students will develop & create their own animations. Projects must be approved and will be produced in Sp '09 term. Some animations might be exhibited at the museum.


Students interested in participating in Anime Projects must meet these requirements:

· ATTEND LECTURE: THUR. OCT. 30, 11AM IN AC300, Pacific Asia Museum Presentation.
· Study and use their images as influences to develop story concept & designs for an animation.
· Animations must be 2D hand drawn (Traditional or Wacom Tablet assembled in Flash) with storyboards & character designs.
· THUR. NOV. 13, 3pm-6pm, DUE: PROPOSALS & PITCH, to seek approval.
· TUES. NOV. 18: APPROVED PROJECTS ANNOUNCED.
· Individual & Team projects are supervised & for college credit. Must enroll Sp 09 in one of: 363A Flash Team, 363B Concept, 443 Character Design, 463 Anim III Production.
· SPRING 09 TERM: PRODUCE & COMPLETE ANIMATIONS by April 14.

Position Summary
Blues SchoolHouse Set- up/ Art Tour Guide: Part-time, hourly, seasonal position

Set-up Responsibilities:: setting up and breaking down chairs and prepping Music Hall for the Blues SchoolHouse (BSH) program and other IHOBF programs as needed. The position also assists in other program-related activities as directed by the IHOBF-Los Angeles Program Director. Program activities typically take place on weekday mornings but on occasion may occur at other times.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Setting up and breaking down chairs for IHOBF programs in the House of Blues Music Hall
• Cleaning up any debris left behind by program attendees
• Ensuring that House of Blues Music Hall is left in a clean and orderly manner after IHOBF programs are completed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must physically be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to work in a timely and efficient manner



Art Tour Guide Responsibilities: lead guided tours through the House of Blues Art Collection as part of the Blues SchoolHouse program offered by the IHOBF. Tours, offered to students in grades 5 – 12, last from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and are typically scheduled three mornings a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.. Art Tour Guides are required to attend on-going, scheduled group sessions to refine touring techniques, discuss educational materials and program-related issues and/or individual needs or problems related to tour processes.


SKILLS: Strong oral communication skills, experience working with children and/or education major, art background and/or knowledge in the arts.

Seeking Help From 3D Animators

The Indy Film Co-op, a film co-operative of over 2200 member is seeking animators,
We have just completed three projects,

1) A pilot for a SCI-FI project which takes place on a moon of Jupiter
2) A modern day comedic sci-fi tale
3) An miniseries for the web set in Iraq

We desperately need CGI help, we had thought we had assistance in place but the CGI artists have been proven unreliable.

All of these films were done for an exceedingly low budget and compensation would be limited to equity in the project. The filsm were all shot 1080i 24p with the Sony EX1

The Oviatt Library is looking for a Web Assistant III

Duties:
Reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented student needed to assist with Library web site maintenance, digital image processing, and web content creation. Duties include updating existing web pages, creating new Dreamweaver-template based pages, and preparing digital content for the Oviatt Library Digital Collections. Good communication and inter-personal skills required.

Skills:
Qualified candidates will have detailed knowledge of HTML coding and CSS. The position requires excellent proofreading skills and working knowledge of Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Previous editorial experience a plus.

Other Information:
20 hours per week. Candidates must be able to follow a set schedule and stick with it, although flexibility in the schedule is available. Must be prompt, reliable, and meticulous with follow-through on all assigned tasks.

Hourly Wage: To be determined, depending on candidate’s experience. This is a Student Class 3 position.
